Getting started and switching majors

This is my first post, kind of strange. I am not sure how to get started or if anyone will even care what I have to say but here goes. This blog will be an interesting mix. I lead an interesting life from eloping with my husband at 19, to loosing now two babies before most women would even know they were pregnant, to owning a huge 80 lb labradane named Daisy, to navigating school and being an adult with a family who is anything but normal.

This blog will be a mix of everything from life lessons, craft projects, ways to bring natural remedies into your life, my journey further into motherhood, pregnancy, birth and baby ideas, information on college, activities to do with all different ages of children, pet ideas, stories of my family and our life together and everything in between. Today I want to start with how I just changed my major from education to Information Technology. This change is huge for me since I am anything but technologically advanced. I switched in preparation for starting a family and having children one day. My new program started last Monday and forced me to buy a new computer, learn what Virtual Box is (which for those of you who don't know is essentially a program to run a computer inside of your computer), and learn how to change my BIO settings which is intensely terrifying and stressful for someone with just about no computer experience like myself. I am taking two classes, one which is a super basic computer class that should not be a problem and one class which is an introduction to network security fundamentals. YIKES. This class is marketed as a beginners class but as soon as I look at the syllabus it specifically states that this class is not for beginners and that you should have prior experience... So this class should be fun.*insert sarcasm here* It is only eight weeks long so it will be over quick.

Why would I want to go down this educational road when I have such a great love for children, babies and birth might you ask? Well when I do have children on this earth there is no way I would be able to be a stay at home mom and keep my sanity. Yet I have a strong desire to raise my children myself and not by daycare teachers. So in an interest for both my children, my sanity and my family finances I switched to IT so that I can work part time and still make more money than if I was teaching full time.

How do you manage the pull of work and children? I think I have it all figured out but ask me again when I have a few kids and am working. I hope to maintain an average life with just a side of hippie.
